Queen Mother's Cup is an annual competition, now in its 13th
year, dedicated to raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care to help fund its invaluable services. It is a professionally run and highly regarded national competition open to both men and ladies at all levels of experience.
There are two competitions running in parallel, playing for the Ladies’
Cup and the Men’s cup. The last competition attracted over 500 competitions played
across the UK for the 400 places in the Regional Finals. From these finals 10
men and 10 ladies go forward to the grand final where one winner from each group will walk away with the
coveted Queen Mother's Cup.
Entering your Club The competition is open to all club
and society 18Yrs + players with a maximum handicap of 28 for men and 36 for
ladies. You can run your competition to suit your calendar provided it is played
before 31st July 2008. You might
want to run it in tandem with a monthly medal or Stableford competition.
The Finals There are 5 Regional Finals across the
country. Each region is structured to allow the maximum number of club winners
to be able to play. The location of your club will determine your region - the full details of which will be available soon. Each regional final will have 20 men and 20 ladies’. The winners
will be notified on the day and given full details of their trip to
the Grand Final.
Prizes The winner and runner-up of the Mens and Ladies competitions will be
presented with a trophy on the day, while the winner will also have the chance to
compete at the Grand Final. The overall Men’s
and Ladies’ winners at the Grand Final will each be presented with the relevant Queen Mother’s Cup (to be
retained for the year) at the Gala Dinner that will follow the competition. In adition they will also be presented with a personal
trophy to keep for all time.
